We love the designs by Five & Two so much, we wanted to find out about the Californian girl behind the label. Read on as we catch up on Five & Two's latest collection, materials and celebrity inspiration!

What is your favourite thing about Five & Two?

My favourite thing about Five & Two is being able to make people smile! I know it sounds cheesy, but I love it! Every package from the main site is sent out with a stamp that says, "You are a gem!", a hand written note and sometimes extra goodies. Editor's note - so are Beginning Boutique's!

Where do you get all the fabulous rocks from?

Some people think I get my sparkly rocks and gems from outer space... But I'll never tell!

What do we need to know about your new collection?

I'm really excited for the new pieces for Spring. We'll be showcasing new shapes, new colours and fresh metals. The rainbow jewellery will still be available, but the new items will still feel super fun and fresh for Spring!

Who is your favourite celebrity and why?

Lauren Conrad! I think she's so adorable and a good role model for young women. She always looks put together and naturally beautiful. Lauren's also accomplished so much for herself, and that's very admirable. I actually really love to have The Hills or The City playing on the TV in the background when I'm working. It's fun motivation!

Top fashion tips?

Be fierce, be comfortable, be you! Wear things that make you happy. My favourite pieces are my Converse chucks, a vintage Harley Davidson tee, straight jeans, IRS ring, wedding ring and hot pink purse.

How should we wear out our Five & Two rings?

Wear the rings with confidence. I always tell my clients and friends, "Five & Two is worn best when your inner beauty shines through". They're pretty awesome and can be worn with a tee and jeans or a little black dress.

The newest sensation in swimwear, Mouille, opens their heart, office and designs up to Beginning Boutique.  Sarah Turner is an Aussie girl at heart as she was raised in Bondi.  If that doesn't give you a degree in designing swimwear, I don't know what will! Read on to find out more about the girl behind Mouille designs.

Why did you first decide to design swimwear?

When I was 19 and had started Fashion design at University. Swimwear was an elective, however I liked working with lyrca & loved designing swimwear so much I specialised in it in the last year of Uni.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by art, graphics, music, images, runway shows, and anything really!

What song is currently on repeat on your Ipod?

The Sea by Morcheeba, Porcelain by Moby, and lots of Zero 7 (we love chill out music here in the office so it’s always on repeat). It also sets the perfect mood for designing swimwear.

Describe the typical Mouille girl day? What would she do, who does she see etc?

The Aussie Mouille girl wakes up and has breakfast whilst flicking through a fashion magazine. She goes to Uni or work and browses the internet in her lunch break (or when her lecturer/boss isn’t looking) as she loves the internet (facebook, twitter, boutique website, and other fashion websites like style.com, etc). After uni/work she goes into her favourite little boutiques or vintage stores to see if she falls in love with anything (when she sees something she likes it jumps out at her and she must get it!). On the weekend she likes to go to gigs at the local bar with friends, out partying at clubs in the city and if the weather allows the beach is a must do for her! She loves travelling & often saves up for holidays/holiday wardrobe (as important to her as the cost of the flight – one must look good on holiday). She has a keen eye for styling and loves ‘one of a kind’ fashion. Some of her favourite shows are Project runway, Gossip girl and America’s next top model.

How would you style your Mouille Anna one piece? Any summer essentials you would pair with it?

I would style it with high-waisted black denim shorts (they go with everything), gladiator sandals & a cute headband for a casual-wear look or some ripped faded shorts, Havaianas and cute beach-bag for a beachy look.

Fashion's newest darling, Miss Unkon, is an up-and-coming label in Australia. Their most recent collection, "Love is Like a Dreamland" is a treasure trove of romance, taking girls on a trip down memory lane to relive their first love.

Beginning Boutique sat down for tea with Miss Unkon's designer, Courtney Meyer to discuss the collection, Miss Unkon's favourite things and the future of the label

When did you first realise you wanted to be a fashion designer?

Fashion is something I've always loved. It was at age 12 when I thought, "Oh that's what I can be", and that's what I wanted to make my life about.

Did you learn how to sew at age 12?

My mum taught me to sew since I was younger, and at 12 I made my first pattern.

Your work is so unique and different. Was there a personal story or an event that you drew on to design the collection?

The collection, "Love is like a dreamland: a journey of young love" was really about exploring the journey of a young girl, the moments and the time that she was having as she falls in love. To me, Miss Unkon is more about what young girls are about. I really like to tell a story, and I really like to live in this world of memories of a young childhood. So it's a bit of outside influence, and what's happening with young girls as well.

Can you describe to me who the Miss Unkon girl is?

A Miss Unkon girl is a girl that's really passionate. She's very creative, interested in her career and passionate about the environment and the rest of the world. She loves to be fun and a little bit feminine but with an edge as well.

What sets Miss Unkon apart from other Australian designers?

Miss Unkon is very feminine but with a bit of an edge. That's something that girls really love about it. We're not just about fashion, but creativity and music, film and books.

Would you say you follow trends, or create your own?

We're always influenced by what's happening in trends. We need to have an interest in what's happening trend-wise because that's what young girls really love. But we are much more about who we are rather than just what's happening in fashion.

What are your essential items for Spring/Summer?

From Miss Unkon, the essential items are the Wherever It Leads dress, the Follow Your Dreams jacket and the So Long Farewell shorts. All these pieces can be worn back with a little top. I think wearing soft pastels in Spring/Summer is definitely in.

Where do you see yourself and the Miss Unkon brand in five years time?

We've already started expanding internationally. We also want to do more collaborations with artists. We're opening our first Miss Unkon pop-up store, so we're focussing on creating a new space that focuses on creativity and fashion.
